Online Doctorate Degrees
The highest level of online degree attainable is the online doctoral degree, or Ph.D. This doctor of philosophy degree reflects advanced graduate study beyond the bachelor's and master's degrees. Achieving an online doctoral degree normally takes the equivalent of two to four years of full-time study after completion of the baccalaureate.

Completion of an online doctoral degree usually requires independent research as well as coursework. Most programs require the student to write a dissertation, or thesis, reflecting original thought and research. A doctorate reflects a deep commitment to study and an intense interest in a field. Although some potential employers might consider a candidate with a Ph.D. less attractive than one with a master's degree and plenty of real-world experience, other employers will find the deep expertise invaluable.
